Forget-Me-Not Necrophile Flag
What is it? Should I be concerned?

What is Necrophilia?
This should be fairly obvious but necrophilia is the sexual and/or romantic attraction to the dead, whether they be fresh dead, corpses or skeletons. It is a paraphilia listed in the DSM-V as ‘an other specified paraphilic disorder, involving recurrent and intense sexual interest in corpses’.Anil Aggrawal notes in Encyclopedia of Forensic and Legal Medicine (Second Edition) that "Also known as necrophilism, necrolagnia, necrocoitus, necrochlesis, and thanatophilia, it may be seen by itself or in association with a number of other paraphilias, namely sadism, cannibalism, vampirism (the practice of drinking blood from a person or animal), necrophagia (eating the flesh of the dead), necropedophilia (sexual attraction to the corpses of children), and necrozoophilia (sexual attraction to the corpses of or killing of animals – also known as necrobestiality). Very often the corpses that are used for sexual purposes are not fresh, but rather dug up from graves in a putrefied or mummified condition. Some prefer just bones."Clearly this is a wider classification than simply attraction to corpses, as well as it varies wildly from case to case.

Wait, so you fuck corpses?
Nope! The Forget-Me-Not flag is specifically for non-contact and anti-contact necrophiles. That is to say, it is not for the use of anyone who would in fact commit the desecration of a grave in real life. FMN Necros understand that we are beautiful in life AND in death, and believe the act of disrupting the dead to be a disrespectful action and an obvious breach of consent.A common enticement for acting necrophiles is that a dead body cannot say "No", as such it cannot reject them. This is not the same as the expression of love FMN necros feel.I know this because I am the creator of this flag and I made it for myself and others like me.That's not to say I don't fantasize about the reanimated dead though. Sue me.Fiction is a permissible outlet and is unrealistic in that a fictional corpse can potentially walk, talk, consent and even flirt. A real corpse can do none of these things.

Okay, so what does the flag actually Mean?
Glad you asked. Credit where credit is due, the FMN flag is based on the design by tumblr user necrophiliacofthe day, which can be found backed up on their page right hereThe color meanings on their flag cite things such as “the biblical color of pestilence” and “it reminds me of rotting flesh”, which holds very little meaning for me.Instead, my flag holds the following meanings:Black skull represents death. It does not face the viewer, as it is to be left untouched.Blue forget-me-not flowers represent remembrance and respect for the dead.Green represents the grass of the graveyard, such is where those at rest stay peacefully at rest.Red represents both roses and blood. It is passionate yet dangerous, like the bleeding heart.Muted Lavender represents calmness, which both the dead and all paraphiles deserve to be. It’s also a flower.Blue represents yet more of the forget-me-not flowers, associated with funerals.Dark Blue represents the sorrow of a lover lost to death. Mourning and the continued love still in our hearts after we say ‘goodbye’.

Closing sentiment
Remember that attraction =/= action. Your thoughts do not define you. So long as nobody is getting hurt, you are not a monster.Other paraphiles are out there, and you can live a happy, healthy and average life despite having these kinds of attractions. All it takes is communication, understanding and time. Not everyone is going to understand you, and that’s okay. Paraphilias can’t simply “be cured”, and there are ways to cope.
